In 1970s Afghanistan, twelve-year-old Amir is determined to win the local kite-fighting tournament. His loyal friend Hassan promises to help him succeed.
But neither could imagine what would happen to Hassan that day—an event that would break both their lives apart.
When the Russians invade, Amir’s family flees to America. But even in a new country, Amir cannot escape the weight of his past.
Eventually, he realizes he must return to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan to seek the one thing he’s still missing: redemption.
